James Till is a founding partner of BTNT and a member of both the firm’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice and Business Litigation practice. Mr. Till counsels clients on all aspects of commercial enterprise, with bankruptcy and restructuring as cornerstones of a more general commercial practice.

With nearly twenty years of experience representing clients in some of the nation’s largest bankruptcy cases and in numerous middle-market reorganizations and workouts, Mr. Till’s experience covers a broad range of disciplines applicable to a wide variety of disputes and litigation scenarios. Past representations advising clients in general business, commercial and litigation matters include experience in the technology, entertainment, financial, private equity, hedge fund, utility, retail, airline, transportation and real estate sectors.

Prior to founding BTNT, Mr. Till began his legal career with two prestigious federal judicial clerkships, first serving as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable William T. Bodoh in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and then as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Leslie Tchaikovsky in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. After his federal clerkships, Mr. Till secured a position at the oldest and largest law firm in the Pacific Northwest, Perkins Coie, where he practiced for approximately five years in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Law Group based in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Till then followed his passion to return to California, assuming a senior associate position at one of the world’s leading international law firms and a top 10 AM Law 100 law firm, White & Case, where he practiced in the Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Group in San Francisco. When the firm closed its San Francisco office, Mr. Till and his family seized the opportunity to move to Southern California, where Mr. Till secured a senior associate position in the prestigious and nationally acclaimed Financial Restructuring Group of one of the world’s top law firms, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.
